Jan 14, 2011
Modesto, CA- Michael Anderson, Sr., and his wife, Angela, have received the “Distinguished American Patriot Award” from the Marine Corps League of Modesto. The award was given in acknowledgement of their dedicated efforts to promote the passage of the Gold Star License Plate Program into California law. The Anderson’s were inspired to aid in the project after their son, Cpl. Michael Anderson, Jr., was killed in action while serving in Iraq with the Marine Corps in 2004. The award was also given in memory of Cpl. Michael Anderson, Jr.’s sacrifice.
“It is truly a heart-felt honor to be acknowledged by the Marine Corps League.”, said Mike Anderson. “I have the utmost respect and admiration for those who serve our military- past, present, and future alike. My late son, Mike Jr., was very passionate about his service in the Marine Corps and the missions that he was given to accomplish. We need follow the spirit of our fallen heroes by being persistent in our contribution to the good of our country, as well as the world. I am passionate about carrying the torch my only son was forced to drop. I will not let him down now.”
