Governor Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of Modesto Marine Cpl. Michael D. Anderson

Governor Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement regarding the death of Cpl. Michael D. Anderson, of Modesto, CA:

"Our prayers go out to Cpl. Anderson’s family and the entire community of Modesto as they mourn Michael’s death and celebrate his life. His life and his admirable service to our country in the fight for freedom will not be forgotten."

Anderson, 21, died Dec. 14 as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA.

In honor of Anderson, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
